Legal Question in Military Law in Virginia

Reentry Code Appeal

In 1998 I was discharged from the U.S. Navy with a ''Under Other Than Honorable Conditions'' discharge with a reentry code that prohibits me from reentering the military. On paperwork I did have from the Navy stated I had 8 years to appeal the decision. I have my own family now and have matured and I have got my life in order and I am wanting to serve again in the National Guard or reserves and I would like to serve my country again. My question is I am needing a representative to assist me with getting the code changed to allow me to reenter the military. Just the code not the discharge title itself. The code is the only thing that prohibits me from ever returning to the military. I need to know the process for appeal.

Re: Reentry Code Appeal

Before engaging the services of an attorney, if I were you, I would consult with representatives of one of the local veterans organizations in your area such as the American Legion to see if they know of someone who could assist you with this matter either at minimal or no charge.
