Legal Question in Military Law in Virginia
Last son to carry name.
Is there a real law for the ''fortunate son'' situation that would allow my friend in the national guard to be put in a non-combat position as he is the last male child to carry his name?
Secondly, He was trained for communications and once deployed he has been given security duty such as convoy work and his training is being ignored. Can he do anything about this?

Depending on your situation, an attorney may be able to submit discharge request to your commander.
