Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia
Burned by prduct
A sales rep for a skin care company came to the salon i worked at to give a demonstartion of her product to try to sell us the line of skin care to carry in out salon. She uses various ''peels'' on each of us. She used a very strong peel on me, and I was severly burned all over my face. The company acknowledged that she should not have used that product on me. I have missed a weeks worth of work, and have so far been to the doctor three times. It was very painful, as well as i had raw open wounds all over my face. I now am seeing a dermatologist for hyperpigmentation and broken capillaries as a direct result of the acid applied to my face. What should I except as a reasonable settlement, so i don't have to take this matter to court? My out of pocket expenses as well as lost wages are about $1000.00, but what about my pain and suffering?

YOur damages are in the mind of the beholder, which will vary considerably. If you end up with permanent disfigurement, your damages could be considerable and you should consult a personal injury lawyer. Nor should you consider a settlement until you have completed all recommended treatment. It is simply not possible for me to provide you an accurate number for settlement without knowing more about your case.

Try somewhere between three and five times your out of pocket expenses. There may, also, be questions of possible future disfigurement and further medical care/treatment that may be required, which should, also, be compensated.
