Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

I was charged with reckless driving/ failure to maintain control after swerving to miss an animal in the middle of the road. I have an excellent driving record. The problem is I also had two beers before the accident but I was not charged with anything alcohol related. What should I do?

Get an attorney to represent you if at all possible. Otherwise, you can

see if the prosecutor assigned to your case on the morning of trial would be willing to accept your plea of guilty to a lesser charge, i.e., a speeding infraction in return for dismissing the criminal misdemeanor offense of reckless driving.
