Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia
My daughter missed her bus and so I went to drop her off at another bus stop where I met another mother whose daughter rides the same bus, is in the same school and in the same class as my daughter. We got talking and she seemed breathless and I found out that she is pregnant so I offered to drop her off at her house. And, while backing up from the drive way I hit the mail box and the wooden post broke. She at the time told me that it was fine and that her brother in law would fix it. I gave her my phone numbers and left. And, then she and her sister in law started calling me. And, they asked me to pay up. In the first hour of the incident they called me like 15-20 times. Out of which I talked to them atleast 5-6 times, 7 missed calls on my cell, 5 times they called my home number and left 3messages on my cell and 2messages on my home number trying to get this fixed. Despite my telling them that we can get this fixed but we need time. They went ahead and called the police. What are my chances here?

Your chances for what, i.e., that you're dealing with shameless ingrates
who will not succeed in holding you criminally liable for what is at best
a civil rather than a criminal matter?
Yes, I would put your chances at 100% that that in fact is the case.
