Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia
I was driving down the interstate when BOOM a car hit me. The driver was a 17 year old teen, so his parents were automatically responsible. My car was totaled, their insurance company paid for my medical, my car loan, and the rental car; however, now I am out of a car. Can I sue the parents of the driver for punitive damages so I can get another car?

No, you are incorrect in asserting that the parents of this boy are necessarily "automatically responsible" for all of your
possible damage claims that might arise out of this accident, and, you
can be virtually assured that in a case like this, no court would
be awarding you punitive damages.
