Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia
Harrassment and personal injury
My wife slapped an individual as a result of a comment he made to her that was racial in context, he then slapped her back. This occured at his place of employment. We are being told that the police officer my wife called after the fact was pressing charges against her and want to know if we have any recourse.

Re: Harrassment and personal injury
You should seek a criminal assault charge against the male agressor to balance things out. The sooner after the event you do so, the greater your credibility. Prosecutors sometimes dismiss mirror image charges in exchange for a 12 month promise of good behavior, if the accused have no record. After a dismissal (or an acquittal) you would be able to consider a civil suit for battery.
