Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia
Landlord Tenant/Personal Injury
I was employed as an independent contractor for a very wealthy and prominent businessman/home builder serving as his Quality Control Inspector, Rental Property Mng. & personal asst. for 3 yrs. He was my sole client. He is also my landlord. In Jan. '05, we started an ''affair''. He has been paying my rent ever since. I recently rec'd a letter stating that my srvcs. were no longer needed. He told me that he told his wife about us and that it was over. I was not to contact them in any way or he would have me arrested for harrassment. He also refused my request for a letter of reference for another job. I quote him, ''You put all of your eggs in one basket, that wasn't very intelligent.'' On June 6, I rec'd a pay/quit letter from him. On June 26, I rec'd a civil claim for eviction, court date 07/20/07. (He has never treated his other tenants in this way. Records will show this.) I am a single mom of 2, have no income and no place to go. (He knows this) We were together for 2 1/2 yrs. He claimed he loved me, told me we were his ''family'', and promised to always take care of me. I have a history of depression (that he knows about), and upon seeing my Dr. today, have been prescribed with an amphetamine to help me get through this. Any case?

Re: Landlord Tenant/Personal Injury
No, none as far as I understand Virginia law as it applies to the so-called Lee Marvin, California type "palimony situations", meaning there is simply no remedy under the law of the Commonwealth for this situation, unlike, California, where apparently there is.
