Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

While operating my motorcyle I was struck by a car. The other driver was at fault & charged with failing to grant right-of-way. I was transported to the ER but sustained no injury other than minor road rash & very, very sore limbs. The other driver was not injured. The doctor stated that my mc jacket with a back plate saved me from spine or neck damage as I was thrown off the bike. The insurance has totaled my bike & offerred about $1000 more than I now owe on it. They further offerred to pay all medical bills & an additional $2000. Is this a fair settlement under the circumstances? Is it cost effective to hire a lawyer for such small numbers?

To determine whether the $1000 offer for the bike is reasonable, you would need to compare its fair market value with what is still owed on the bike. Since you apparently suffered no significant injuries from this accident, the rest of the offer

seems reasonable, and it would not seem cost effective for you to

hire a lawyer to further pursue the matter.
