Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

I was a photographer for Gannett Newspapers. I was diagnosed with PTSD in August 2007 after my last assignment in Iraq. I filed for disability and was granted this. It lasted about 18 months. I also filed for WC in Virginia. It was denyed. Gannett terminated me. My doctor has still not released me to work. Can I file a personal injury suit against Gannett ?

How would Gannett be legally liable for your personal injury as alleged under these facts? A breach of your employment contract, perhaps, (if you had one), but personal injury? No, I simply don't see it.
