Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

I am planning to have a incompetent witness to appear in court partly concerning a matter of marriage and separation. Because the witness is incompetent and not be able to qualify to testify , is it in my best interest to obtain from public record his marriage and separation records .I will also will like to know if the answers to the above question coming from a lawyer
