Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia
sexually abused by college teacher
Thirteen years ago, I was severely abused by one of my college teachers over a two year time span. I was not the only victim. Several students, including myself, reported the attacks to the administration, but we were never believed. The college finally forced me into an internal hearing, which led to the dismissal of the teacher. The college discouraged me from filing criminal charges. I developed severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of the abuse, and it has taken me this long to be able to fully talk about what happened to me. Is it too late to now bring a civil suit against the college for monetary damages? I was emotionally incapacitated after the hearing, and for many years afterwards, because of the trauma. Also, is it too late to bring criminal charges? The teacher committed felonies, not only against me, but also against several other students as well.

Re: sexually abused by college teacher
Yes, I believe that under the circumstamces which you've described,
your possible civil causes of action against the college as well as the perpetrator would have expired due to the expiration of the applicable statute(s) of limitations.
