Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

Slip and Fall

The owner of a hair salon had a customer who had been in the salon for two hours slip as she stepped off of the carpet to the floor, which was in the building when she rented it. The customer stated that she was okay at the time but is now claiming pain in her back and knee. Does the customer hold any assumed responsibility since she was forwarned upon entry into the salon and does the building owner hold any responsibility because the salon owner is unable to change the floor?

Re: Slip and Fall

Could there be contributory negligence,

is what you're really asking, on the part of the customer in the scenario which you've described. The answer is that it's possible but unlikely. (What exactly would she have been forewarned of?)

Both the hair salon owner as well as the building owner could be liable for damages to the customer who sustained the injury.
