Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia
slip and fall
I rent a townhouse and I fell down the stairs. I informed the real estate office who handles the home the I thought the carpeting on the stairs could be a problem since it seems to move when you walk down them. Could I seek damages for my fall from either the real estate office or the owner, since I have missed work and have incured medical bills.

It's conceivable that both the owner and management firm could be liable to you for the damages you suffered as a result of the fall, particularly, if they were forwarned by you about
the slippery carpet but, nevertheless, failed to take corrective action.
Re: slip and fall
These cases can be very difficult to win. What caused your fall? Was the fall due to the problem you reported to the rental office? did the office have time to fix the problem after you made your report? How severe are your injuries? Even "small cases" will cost 4-6k to litigate, and so the injury has to be relatively serious. These are some of the many considerations
