Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

i was stopped at a stop light and i was rear ended by a car going atleast 25 to 30 mph and i have a ruptured disc and have to have surgery. i've been dealing with this since 11/19/11 and just found out that i lost my job(a state job) due to this accident because i've been out on short term disablity. if the insurance company try's to settle with me whats a reasonable ammount?
