Surgery Error

A medically necessary ''Total Hysterectomy and Bladder Repair'' was performed in March 2002. My bladder was incorrectly 'repaired' and permanent stitches were placed throughout it. My body treated these stitches inside my bladder as ''foreign objects'' and extensive calcification on the stitches occurred during the last five years, causing substantial pain and numberous infections. This ''error'' was discovered in early 2007 during an MRI and cystoscopy. Immediate surgery was scheduled. Although I suffered recurring problems (infections and pain) during the time lapse, the cause was not discovered until the testing earier this year. Is a personal injury suit for compensation and medical expenses possible? My co-pay/deductible for the MRI alone is hundreds of dollars. The two year statute passed before discovery of this idiotic mistake.

Much more information(particularly that which could be provided by a medical expert in this area)would be required in order to make a credible judgment upon this matter.

The bottom line consideration would be whether the care and treatment which you received in March 2002 fell below the standard of care prevailing in the community at that time for the medical condition for which you were treated.
