Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

My vehicle was involved in a accident the other person hit my car. The claim adjuster came out and assesed the damages to my car and I was able to get a rental car. The insurance check came 5 days later made out to me. I deposited it into my bank account and the bank put a 7 day hold on the check. My car was fixed a week age but the check has not cleared for me to pay the mechanic. Should I have to turn the rental car in without having my car back?

The problem with the apparent delay in making these funds available for

paying your mechanic would appear to lie with your bank rather

than the insurance company, and, if such is the case, I see no

reason as to why the insurance company should have to extend your

time with the rental vehicle at its expense.
