Legal Question in Product Liability in Virginia
Used car fraud
It's regarding used car(Nissan maxima se 2006 with 22,209)
mileage.I bought this vehicle from a usedcar dealer in fairfax,va on
06/22/08.I observed a steering wheel issue(can't negotiate sharp turns,U
turns,wheel is very hard for average driver like me) and I informed the
dealer's sales person on 06/24/2008.He told me to bring it to their
garage.Later on he told me to take it to near by nissan dealer as vehicle is
under manufacturer warranty.I took my vehicle to near by delaer in OH as I'm
travelling and dealer told me the following :
''Aftermarket air intake system installed on vehicle.This may void
manufacturer's engine warranty.Vehicle has aftermarket springs on front and
rear suspension angles have been altered.Correct springs need to be
installed and 4 wheel alignment needed to repair vehicle estimate to repair
:$1199.83.''
As far as buyer's guide stricker is concerned,They checked warranty box,they
didn't check AS IS box but they wrote few lines :''Vehicle AS IS through
dealership,customer declined extended warranty,customer declined ownerguard
gap,vehicle comes with balance of FACTORY WARRANTY''
As per his internet ad he put on his website for the same vehicle :
''Warranty:Full balance of factory warranty,have

The full balance of the factory warranty would not apply if the warranty was voided by the addition of
"aftermarket" or other unauthorized parts to the vehicle.
Furthermore, assuming the accuracy of what apparently was listed on the buyer's guide sticker with respect to any warranty responsibility on the part of this dealer, I would have to surmise that he's off the hook, so to speak, for the cost of the needed repairs to your vehicle, and, unfortunately, you appear to be very much on it.
