Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

My apt complex sales rep told me 12/09 (start of lease) and and again two weeks ago that if I wanted to leave early all I had to do was find someone to take over the lease. I found someone this week and went to the office to get the paperwork but was told that the policy changed 12/2010 and I was not allowed. Shouldn't I be allowed to change my lease?

Well, you could argue to the controlling powers that be that their sales rep told you as late as two weeks ago that you could terminate your lease early (without penalty) if you found someone to assume your lease (which you have done), and, therefore, they should be bound by the promise of their agent. (I would, however, not call any moving trucks just yet, if I were you.)
