Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

bank missed closing date

If a bank missed the closing date and will not respond to the listing agent, is the contract void? Do I have to fill any new papers to release my earnest deposit? The problem is the bank doesn't respond to the listing agent, so submitting a release form will not get answered as well. Should I hire a real estate lawyer and sue the bank and listing agent? My agent said I can't put an offer on a new house until I get the release form. What do I do?

Re: bank missed closing date

Forget about the listing agent; you yourself should contact the bank concerning the release(in my opinion), and then see a lawyer if you fail to get an appropriate response.

And, if you continue to be in the market for housing, then get a new agent.
