Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Batrayed by Loan Officer

I was getting a loan from this Loan officer to purchase the house from the builder.

He told me that my loan is approved and set up the settlement date. We went to settlement.

On the settlement day the builder informed me that my loan was not received. My realtor asked builder to postpone the settlement date to 1week later.

This time Loan officer promised to provide the loan from other bank and he agreed to sign the agreement paper that state he will guaranty the loan.

one day before settlement day, the builder called me and said, my loan officer didn't send a loan because the bank had a computer virus problem. I had to borrow $100,000.00 from friend and collected all the available money to go to the settlement. I ended up buying a house with a cash. Before the settlement the loan officer promised and sign the paper to get me the loan.

Now he doesn't think he did anything wrong.

I want to sue this loan Officer.

Is this sueable case? If not how can I report to the attorney General?

Re: Batrayed by Loan Officer

You might well have a "suable case", to use your terminology, for breach of contract and, perhaps,

other causes of action against this loan officer.

One consideration, of course, before moving ahead with such suit(s), is to determine, what your realistic and provable damages might be.
