Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

blockage of access road

i live in an area with a few neighbors and one of them has blocked access to vehicles traveling safely on an access road to our property. He does not own the part of the property in question. He just entended his fence so that it is in the road. Whom do we contact about this problem. I live in Tazewell County, Virginia. thanks

Re: blockage of access road

Your first contact should be to this neighbor, in writing, and requesting that the offending fence be removed from the access road so that vehicles may safely pass to their intended destinations as they have in the past.

However, if the neighbor ignores or refuses to accede to your request, assuming that the road is entirely on private property, your next option will likely involve arranging a consultation with an attorney in the area regarding appropriate legal action that might be taken to have the fence removed.
