Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
My boyfriend and I share a vehicle which was given as a gift from his mother, the car is titled to me and she has a lien on it, at the time the car was titled to me no money was owed. My question is, can she legally confiscate the car? Thank you for your time I anticipate your advice as soon as possible.

No (in my opinion), not if the vehicle is now titled in your name only, but she
could still attempt to enforce the lien through appropriate court action which
you could be compelled to contest (also my opinion).
Nevertheless, notwithstanding the foregoing, you would now seem well advised to write this lady a letter (if you haven't already done so) with your formal request that she release this lien with the DMV if in fact all that was owed on this car has now been paid off.
