Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

breaking a lease

I would like to break my lease. My landlord says yes but wants me to pay for the ad interview the perspective tenants and than let her have final say. She also wants to keep my deposit. What am I responsible for.

I changed the locks and some of the blinds. I also had to spend three days cleaning before I could move in. She has not reimburst me for the locks or blinds. I have no problem with the deposit but I feel i should'nt have to pay for an ad or find someone to rent this house. Can you help?

Re: breaking a lease

You should take your copy of the lease to an attorney and ask him/her the specifics of what you have to do to terminate a lease early.
