Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Breaking Lease

My husband's job is tranfering him out of state and our lease in VA isn't up till June 2006, so we are going to have to break the lease. Do we still have to pay the fees to break the lease since he is getting transfered through his job?

Re: Breaking Lease

No, Ma'am, your husband's job transfer will not absolve you from legal responsibility to pay all rents due under the lease either until the unit is rerented by the landlord(who must make reasonable efforts to do so in the event you prematurely exit) or until the term of the lease is up in June 2006.
