Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Breaking a Lease

I recently signed a rental lease for one year at a condominium, on Nov 23, 2006. I have already noticed very disturbing activity in the community (and spoke with another tenant who said police patrol the area every half hour). From what I've read online, it seems I'm basically stuck with paying until the place is rented out to someone else, or if the landlord allows me to leave. I noticed on the lease agreement that my name is misspelled and the lease end date is incorrect (should be Nov 30, 2007, but it reads Nov 30, 2006). My question is, can I use these as loopholes to try to quit the lease, even though they were obvious mistakes, especially since I paid a couple months rent initially?

Re: Breaking a Lease

No, you cannot use these minor inaccuracies in the lease which are obviously merely typos and which in no way affect the material terms of the lease (one of which is its length) which obviously were well understood and agreed to by both parties to the lease(you and the landlord)at the time it was executed..
