Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Building Permits

First off I apologize if this is in the wrong section i wasnt sure where to post it.

I bought a double wide mobile home from a man who had bought it from a man in MD a few years back and just recently moved the trailer from MD to VA, I went to get a permit to put together and live in the trailer on my property which I own. I was told it was against the law to move the trailer from MD to VA so now the will not give me what i need to set up and live in my trailer which i have put alot of money into. What should i do to make this right? Am i able to even do anything or does the person who bought and moved the trailer have to do something?

Re: Building Permits

I don't understand who is telling you this or what they are saying. I agree with Mr. Hendrickson.

It does not make any sense to me that they would not give you necessary permits because of what someone else did.

It also does not make sense to say you should have gotten permits, which is what you are there asking them to do.

This really does not make any sense (what they are saying).

Is the trailer registered to travel on the roads?

If you are there asking to get the necessary permits, it makes no sense for them to say you don't have those permits.

You need to try to clarify what they are saying, maybe go to a superervisor, and maybe get a lawyer involved to try to make sense of what they are saying.

If they are saying that there was no plates or something to move it across the roads, that is really none of their business, because they don't know if it was moved with DEALER plates or what.

As I understand it, you did not move it, right? The seller did?

Re: Building Permits

You should ask the local bureaucrat who claims such a move is against the law for his or her authority

for such claim (what state statute or local ordinance prohibits it)and then repost your question with the cite to this alleged authority.
