Clouding a Title

My ex allowed property we purchased together to go into foreclosure. I was advised to do what is called clouding the title. Does this lien follow him or will I receive payment when the property is sold by the bank

Whatever you were "advised" to do regarding title to this property, it is wrong. Whatever that person meant will likely get you sued, if not prosecuted. You may have a claim against your ex, but not against the bank or its purchaser, based on the facts you have given. See a lawyer, and take your legal advice from your lawyer, not from others, however well meaning.
