Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

condo dues

My wife and I are living in a condo that we were recently gifted a 1 % ownership. We just found out that the primary owner has not been paying the dues as per our agreement. Can we be held accountable for the dues. And what recourse do we have with the primary owner?

Re: condo dues

Without reviewing this agreement and, possibly, the deed for the unit and applicable condo bylaws, I couldn't say for sure, but would not rule it out.

As to your possible recourse against the primary owner, it would be premature to speculate on that without first resolving the other issue(in my opinion).
