Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
Contract on a home
We live in Roanoke, VA. We signed a contract on a house, contingent on the sale of our home. Our home is not due to be listed until Oct. 8 (it is Oct. 6 today). The realtor told us we have three days from receipt of the homeower's packet to cancel the deal. As of this morning, we have not received that packet, and we have decided that we do not want to put our house on the market. How do we proceed?

Re: Contract on a home
Tell the realtor that you have yet to receive the HOA packet but that when you do you intend to exercise your option to cancel the deal. Then foloow up with a formal written cancellation.
