Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Deceased Mom real estate tax-

I would like to know if my mom passed away in Aug. 2007 and she didn't leave a Will, who is responsible for the tax on the home. I am the only child and I haven't lived with her since 1999.

Re: Deceased Mom real estate tax-

There is more for you to be concerned about than the "tax" on the home, i.e., your deceased mother's property, including her home, needs to be probated and you, therefore, need to file papers with the probate court to be appointed administrator of her intestate estate which will permit you to carry through with this probate process, including the filing of any tax returns which may be due.
