deed to home and land

if only the husbands name on the deed what legal rights does the wife have?

Hard to say without much more information. (Presumably, if the wife has been in the marriage for some time, then it's likely that she would have at least some marital claim to the family home, even if her name is not on the deed.)

This is difficult to answer without more information. For example, who pays the mortgage, taxes, etc.? The wife would likely have a stronger claim to ownership if on title.
