If I am on a deed of trust and not on the mortgage am I responsible for the mortagage loan and am I still entitled to part ownership of the house?

A deed of trust is the same as a mortgage and, no, unless you are on the

actual deed itself, you are not entitled to part ownership of the house

merely from the fact that you are on the deed of trust(mortgage).
