Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
My domestic partner and I own a home together. The relationship has ended. We own the house as joint tenants in common but he claims he is due more equity if we sell the house because he paid for some renovations to the kitchen and porch out of his pocket that I never approved and he never completed. In a partition suit will he be entitled to his money back since the renovations were never completed and are now a hindrance to the sales process and have decreased the appraisal value of the house? Thanks in advance for any help or light regarding this issue.

Only the trier of fact in the partition suit(probably a judge) would be able to make
such a determination after hearing all of the relevant evidence at trial and argument of counsel in support of each party's position.
