Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
I want to evict my husband from my apartment in Norfolk, VA. He is not on the lease. My mother and myself are on the lease. He has a criminal past and moved here from Washington state where he has warrants out for his arrest. He threatens me frequently, though not enough where I can have him arrested. I feel like I am in a prison and want this to end. My landlord said I can get a copy of the lease and call the police and they would remove him. I'm not sure if that is true or not.

No, if you have what amounts to an oral lease with your
husband to allow him to reside there, you will need
to go through standard eviction procedures at the local general district
court to have him removed.
