If I gave someone an egagement ring and then later called off the engagement, do I get the ring back?

Yes, if it all went down in the Commonwealth where if the marriage doesn't
happen, the ring giver has the legally recognized right to get it back. (And, furthermore, it doesn't matter who called it off.)
