law about furniture left in your care

I have an armoure that was left in my home to keep for someone. I ask her to get it and she left it. My basement flooded and it was damaged and they want the money for it.They left it for 7 years.Who has the right to the money

She/they now want money for an armoire which they apparently abandoned in your basement some seven years ago?

And only now after it has been damaged by basement flooding?
