Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Getting out of a lease.

I was duped into signing a lease thinking I would only pay $600 a month for one room. What the other tenant (who convinced me to sign) didn't tell me is that this is contingent upon finding two other room mates. The lease start date is drawing near and I cannot afford the payments as they would be right now. What are my options for getting out of the lease other than subletting? Also, I am a student, not sure if that matters but the age might help.

Re: Getting out of a lease.

Tell the landlord that you didn't understand the terms of the lease and that you now wish to be released from it.
