Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

I have a lease that states if home is damaged and made uninhabitable, it can be broken by either party, I have recently found substantial mold growth due to the neglect of landlord not fixing a leaking roof, Can this mold be terms of making this home unsafe for my family

If your local department of health were to declare this home "uninhabitable",

then you would likely have a valid basis to declare your intent to break the lease without penalty.

However, in the absence of such a declaration by the foregoing or similar

governmental agency, under the facts you've described, I would think not (my opinion).
