Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

legal recourse if not on lease

I am not on the lease for my townhouse

but I did sign a document with the

realtor that helped us find the place, if I

leave prior to the expiration of the

lease, will my roommates who are on

the lease have any legal recourse if I

move out and refuse to pay the rent for

the remaining months of the lease?

Re: legal recourse if not on lease

Yes, your roommates could sue you for violating

the terms of an alleged oral agreement which would be their burden to prove in court by a preponderance of the evidence.
