Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Living with a landlord

I signed a lease with a landlord who lived in the house. When shown the place I was told by the landlord that his dog that was living there was only going to be there for a few weeks. I stayed there for about 3 months, the dog never left and would always trash the place and use the bathroom in the house, including on my personal things. We asked him to please get rid of the dog and he refused. He also never fixed things around the house, like light fixtures that did not work even after I asked him to. Do his actions break his legal obligations as a landlord?

Re: Living with a landlord

Without reviewing your lease(and determining whether it's VRLTA or not), it would be hard to say, but if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say probably, no, based upon your description of matters.
