Loan holder vs Registered Owner

I and ex purchased a car for myself. The loan is in HIS name, I am the Only registered owner. However he was able to somehow obtain registration on the vehicle and I had to relinquish the vehicle. Is this legal ?

Whatever your "ex" did to obtain registration and title under under his name only, had to have been done with the approval and cooperation of the DMV. And, if he's the only one on the loan and has been making all of the car payments, then your removal from all claims of ownership of or title to the vehicle would not appear to be an inequitable development under these particular circumstances.
