Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Lost my job...

I was laid off. Is there any way to get out of an apartment lease early because of this? My lease says I can get out of the lease if I give a 2 months notice AND 2 months pay in rent!

What other options do I have?

Other than what you've mentioned, none, unless

the landlord is willing to give you a break, after

you thoroughly expain your situation, and how all of this happened through no fault of your own.
