Moldy Townhouse

What can be done about a landlord who will not fix a mold problem caused be a busted pipe before move-in. The mold is causing a little boy's asthma to get worse and be taken to the hospital on a few occasions. Landlord is not doing anything about it.

You should begin addressing this problem by making a formal written request to the landlord to place you and your child in a different unit or residence which is not affected by this problem.(Include with the letter, if possible, medical evidence/treatment of the boy's asthma.)

And, if the landlord then fails to comply with your request or to remedy the mold problem, you may wish to consult with an attorney who is experienced and knowledgeable regarding landlord-tenant matters in the Commonwealth, and who should be able to further advise you on this particular issue.
