Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

My mom\'s current home is paid for (no mortgage). She just remarried this year. My question is after my mother passes away, does the home go to the husband, or does it go to her children - since it was already paid for before the marriage?\nOr... does it depend on how long the marriage lasts?\nTHANK YOU, in advance for your help!!

The husband would likely be entitled to one third of your mother's estate and her children and/or their heirs two thirds.
