Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
My neighbor asked if he could remove all of the branches of one of my trees on the side that extends over his property because he has squirrels jumping onto his roof. The trunk is fully on my side of our property line. First, removing all of those branches would cause the tree to lean and present a danger to my house. Secondly, from what I can tell, it is only one branch that causes the squirrel issue. Before I decide on anything, I'm trying to figure out what he legally could do, without my permission. The way he made the request makes me feel like he thinks he can push me into what he wants because I am young and possibly even because I am female.

Your neighbor is legally entitled to trim back to the property line ALL branches of your tree (whether you consent or not) which overhang this line as long as such trimming does not impair the health of the tree.
