Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Owner won't repair leak

We own a condo in VA Beach and have a leak in our ceiling. A plumber found that the person above us recently had a bathroom floor installed and the toilet was not re-installed properly and was leaking into our condo.

The upstairs owner was supposed to call the installers to fix the toilet and so far, nothing has happened. Meanwhile, we have a huge hole in our ceiling. Do you have any suggestions as to what we can do next?

Re: Owner won't repair leak

Is there a condo manager?

You might get the upstairs' owner's name & # and call-followed by a letter advising that you are holding them responsible for loss of use of your condo. I suspect the condo rules may require prompt repairs as well.
