Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
I had a piece of property I was renting through a management company, the tenants did thousands of dollars in damage to a brand new a/c unit damaged all of the duct work in the home and the ceiling was collapsing due to water condensation (they kept the a/c at 65 24/7 even after being told multiple times not to). The rental company is giving me a hard time about giving me the security deposit back. I finally got the tenants out and also just had the home painted, I understand what they say as "normal wear and tear" but the a/c was not. Also every apartment I ever rented kept the security deposit to paint for the next tenant why am I getting a hard time. Should I take the management company to court?

Sure, sue the SOBs, i.e., this management company if you honestly believe that they're withholding
funds arising out of this rental transaction which should rightly be refunded to you.
