My possesions are being held by an ex friend that wont let me retrieve them. What are my legal rights to go and get my property from thaem in the state of virginia

Go to the clerk's office of the local general district court in the locality

where your personal property is allegedly being wrongfully distrained, i.e,.

withheld from your rightful possession and tell them that you wish to file what's

called a Warrant in Detinue.

The clerk should then provide you with the paperwork that needs to be completed in order for your lawsuit to go forward.
