Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Power of Attorney

I am a resident of Virginia and am purchasing property in South Carolina. I would like to give my husband power of attorney to purchase the land in South Carolina. Do I need a power of attorney for Virginia, where I am a resident, or for South Carolina where we are purchasing?
